Charlie Black Aviation offers aircraft and airplane rental, an AATD flight simulator, and Part 61 flight instruction at Kestrel Airpark (1T7) in Spring Branch — greater San Antonio. We fly two Cessna 172s and a Diamond DA20. Hours are 6:00 AM–10:00 PM daily, by appointment only (no staffed office).
Rent our fleet (wet lease) for training, time-building, or proficiency. Flight instruction is $75–90 per hour. New to flying? Book a Discovery Flight on the Contact Us page.

The largest problem plaguing the industry of flight instruction today is Instructor retention. The airlines are quickly consuming any and all qualified applicants in an effort to relieve the backlog caused when so many tenured pilots were forced into retirement during COVID.
Kestrel Airpark is a unique flight environment which attracts high time, experienced instructors and pilots from all backgrounds. This is their haven, and they enjoy being able to invest in the next generation of GA pilot and even assist in pointing a select few towards a professional track in aviation.
Charlie Black partners with several of the professional instructors and also provides an opportunity to a few professional up and comers to provide pilot services and instruction to our clients. This combination is a significant factor in our success as we have yet to run out of instructor availability.
